Letitia grew up on a ranch in eastern Kansas. Her passion for photography began when she received a camera for her thirteenth birthday. She has always loved exploring the natural environment and her camera and dog were constant companions as a teenager. While wandering around the creek that ran through her father’s ranch she came upon a clever idea for a photograph. From the opposite side of the creek bank she called her faithful companion over “Here Lady, come girl”. Dog in flight, over water, snap the shutter, got it!  She entered that first photo in the 4-H Fair along with a photo of her little brother tinkering under the hood of the family car.  Her interest and love for photography continued to grow from that moment on.

As a freshman in high school Letitia was offered a job with the local newspaper where she spent the next four years covering and photographing community events.

Her formal photography education began at Drury College in Springfield, Missouri and in January of 2000 she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend classes at the New England School of Photography.

In 2002 she left Boston for sunny California. Since moving west, her professional photographic experience includes working as a photo assistant, a Photoshop and Restoration artist for four different companies as well as running her own photography business. Working for one company she was involved in restoring four feature films. She is currently the manager at Reflections a Digital Lab on State Street which does customized printing services for artists in Santa Barbara. She resides in downtown beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. Though her attention gets pulled in other directions her love and interest in photography remains her first and constant passion.

Letitia has recently been exploring abstract photography. Using a narrow depth of field and a precise focus point she isolates a subject from its environment often to the point of obscurity. The resulting images delicately glow with natural light creating a sumptuous feeling. Haynes’ ethereal images seem to float above the real world. They communicate a sense of escape, peace and serenity.  She hopes her images push away the troubles and noise of the day so the viewer can relax into the image and enjoy how it coaxes your imagination and spirit in sublime mystery.
